Honeymooners on the beach in Zanzibar
Honeymooners on the beach in Zanzibar

Tanzania is a fantastic place for a special trip for honeymooners. It's like hitting the jackpot for a honeymoon in Africa! You can have the best of both worlds: incredible safaris and beautiful beaches..;

Just think about it: There are these wonderful places on the Indian Ocean that are not too far by plane from some fantastic parks. And you know what? These parks are home to all the animals you'd love to see up close, like lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards and buffalo. With these large animals and other predators roaming around, there's plenty of action;

We get it. Your honeymoon in Tanzania has to be absolutely perfect and unforgettable. And that's where we come in. We know Tanzania inside out and have been planning trips for many, many years. We'll make sure your honeymoon is everything you dreamed it would be.

If you're thinking about where to go on your honeymoon in Tanzania, you'll have to decide: the north or the south (or maybe both!). Up north, there are famous places like the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. These are superstar spots for game viewing, and it doesn't matter if it's your first safari or if you're already a pro.

But the problem with the north is that it's very popular. A lot of people go there, so it can get quite crowded and prices can be higher. Also, the options for things to do are quite limited. Most places only offer regular game drives - no walks, no boat trips and no night drives. It's also a bit of a hassle to get to the beach from here and you need more time to see everything properly.

The south of Tanzania is like a hidden treasure. Places like the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park are huge and less crowded. There you have a more personal safari experience and can do more, such as boating, hiking and camping in the wilderness. The accommodation options are also very nice and you get more for your money! They are also closer to each other and the beach, so it takes less time and money to get there.

When it comes to the beach, Zanzibar is a good choice. There are tons of great beaches there and the prices vary greatly. Zanzibar has so many cool things to offer that it needs its own page! There are also other islands nearby, like Mafia and Pemba, which are ideal for diving enthusiasts. And if you want the most exclusive experience ever, check out places like Mnemba and Fanjove - super private islands!

If you want to combine your Tansania trip with another country, you can do gorilla trekking in Rwanda and Uganda, and there are direct flights from Rwanda to Serengeti. Mosambique and the Seychelles have some of the best beaches around, but getting there can be a little tricky and expensive..

How much does a honeymoon in Tanzania cost?

There is a whole range of accommodation in Tanzania and prices can vary greatly. For safaris, prices start at around $450 per person per night. But if you want the fanciest places, prices can go up to $2,500 per person per night! These prices usually include everything, such as all the cool things you'll do to see animals, eat and drink.

When it's time to relax on the beach, it's usually cheaper. That can start at $180 per person per night. But if you're thinking about those fancy private islands, it can be a whopping $1,700 per person per night!

And hey, we can arrange flights for you between the safari and the beach. It costs about 250 dollars per person for each flight, but that's just an estimate.

A ten-night honeymoon trip costs about $3,500 per person. If you're looking for something in the middle, like a 13-night trip, that will cost around $6,800 per person. However, if you're looking for luxury, an 11-night trip can cost around $9,500 per person. And if you want the most luxurious trip ever, get ready, because a 10-night trip can start at $15,000 per person and go even higher!

When should you go on a Tanzania safari and honeymoon on the beach?

As Tanzania is located in the tropics, you can expect temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius and above all year round. It is possible to visit all year round, but the best time for the weather is technically from July to September when the weather is dry and the wildlife is prominent. The only time of year we wouldn't recommend if you're aiming for a beach stay on your honeymoon is April and May, when Tanzania has its peak rainy season.... Not very good for a honeymoon on the Indian Ocean

However, if you just want to go on safari, are adventurous and are on a tight budget, then the rainy season can be exceptional. The parks are teeming with new life, the bushes are lush green and it's a wonderful time to be in Tanzania... And the prices of the fantastic lodges are greatly reduced. However, there's a reason the prices are lower - the wildlife is more dispersed and therefore less easy to spot, it's raining and the risk of getting stuck in the mud is greater! But for some, the green season in Tanzania is an adventure like no other;

Our preferred travel time is the low season, i.e. the months of October and June. Here you get lower prices than in high season as well as some fantastic special offers. In some cases, you can have the same experience as in high season a few days later in low season and pay half the price! The wildlife is fantastic during these months and the parks are quieter as they are just before the school vacations.

Each season has advantages and disadvantages for each location, so it's best to contact us and speak to one of our Tanzania experts;

How can you go on a Tanzania safari and honeymoon on the beach?

Tanzania is blessed with miles of wild coastline and several pristine islands in the Indian Ocean. From any safari location in Tanzania you can reach the beach within a few hours - a real advantage over other African destinations where you have to cross borders, stay in city hotels and generally waste precious money and time.

A more distant safari in Tanzania can also be combined with the Seychelles or Mauritius, but you will need to allow extra travel time and possibly a night in Johannesburg. We recommend sticking to the mainland beaches for your honeymoon in Tanzania so that you can make the most of your precious honeymoon time. This also means that you can spend the money you have set aside for the flights instead of higher quality accommodation.

Make your honeymoon special with Bruno African Safari

1. In southern Tanzania, there are these cute little lodges and camps that are run by the owners themselves. This makes your safari feel particularly cozy and familiar, which we think is very important for your honeymoon in Tanzania. It's like having a personal touch to your adventure.

2. Hey, don't rush off on a safari right after the wedding. You'll be very tired! Instead, come up with a plan where you start at the beach, then go on a safari and end up back at the beach. This is a great combination that will make your honeymoon exciting and relaxing at the same time.

3. Sometimes it's tempting to save money on airline tickets, but don't take flights that land very early in the morning. Starting your honeymoon at 3am in an empty airport is no fun!

4. Don't try to do too much on your honeymoon A safari is fantastic, but it can be quite exhausting! It's better to do a shorter safari, e.g. 4 nights, but very luxurious. Quality is more important than quantity!

5. We've been doing this Tanzania thing for 20 years, so we've got some great offers just for you. Ask us about special discounts, like 50% off for the bride! When you book through us, you'll be treated like royalty because we know the best places and have great relationships with them. You will experience a very special trip!
